First thing, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has purchased the Nativity Patterns! They were definitely a labour of love and I am so happy so many of you are creating your own Nativities.
To make life easier for those of you have have purchased the full eight pattern set I thought I would attempt to make one complete supply list.
FELT - 'pieces' refers to a standard craft piece approx 9x12in (22x30cms)
Save All Scraps!!!
One piece of felt can be used over multiple patterns. For Example, I used dark brown for the Shepherd's robe, Balthazar's face and hands, the spots on the goat and for feet and faces on some of the sheep. Don't throw anything away until you are finished with the whole set.
Light Blue- 2 pieces
Dark Blue - 2 pieces
Yellow - 2 pieces
Dark Yellow - 1 piece
Dark Green - 2 pieces
Light Green - 1 piece
Green - 2 pieces
Purple - 2 pieces
Dark Brown - 2 pieces
Brown - 3 pieces
Grey - 4 pieces (I try to get two solid grey for the donkey and 2 kind of mottled grey to use on Balthazar's robe, Shepherd's robe front and Caspar's beard. Both grey scraps can be used on billy goat and geese)
White - 1 piece (if you want to make more than 1 chook and goose get 2 pieces)
Black - 1 piece
Red - 1 piece
Pink - 1 piece (if you have pink scraps already you won't need a whole piece. Only used for cheeks, detail on Mary's robe and dots on Melchior's robe)
Orange - 1 piece
Off white/ cream - 1 piece (if you want to make more then 1 sheep get 2 pieces)
Tan or flesh- 2 pieces
Camel - each camel uses 3 pieces of whatever colour you choose for your camel. I wanted 3 camels in various tones so for me that was 9 pieces.
I wanted my Nativity to be full of different skin tones so I ordered a variety of "flesh" colours.
I also used leftover scraps from the camels as flesh colours.
DMC EMBROIDERY FLOSS
You 100% do not have to use the exact same colour floss I used. For example there isn't a major difference between grey 169 and grey 414. One is a bit bluer and lighter but if you want to budget and the colours look close enough to you then by all means, use the floss you have or combine. I just wanted to provide the full list of what I used on every pattern. Of course, it's important to know you can never, ever, EVER have too much embroidery floss!! :)
